With these differents characteristics, we decide to put the maximum of ideas we had, and then to choose which one was the best. We retained 2 ideas : A king of Digital Memories Ball to make life back again for our memories and a Digital Communication Ball (a ball which permits us to skype/facetime while doing other thing and which is following us thanks to levitation).

Feedback 

The Digital Memories Ball met a great success in our class. So It helps us to choose between our 2 ideas : The Digital Memories Ball and the Digital Communication Ball.

 

Brainstorming 

We had a long brainstorming because we had a problem with the communication part of the “Memo Ball” project.  It’s because the Digital Memories had a great success that we, finally, decided to keep the idea of the Memories Ball and because of the Christmas Time, and then to work on it.

 

Description of our Product : MEMO BALL – La boule à souvenirs

Concept : It’s a Christmas ball which is going to give life back again to our memories.

Its goal : to re-live our memories. Inside, the picture appears as a hologram (live photo in 3D). There is a chip below the ball that connects the photo to the ball. In addition, there is a downlable application (computer, smartphone), which allows to share photos to put in the ball next : You just have to choose a photo, then to choose a person in the application, You send the photo to him and He can decide if He wants it or not and then to put it in his Memo Ball.

The communication function : The application linked to the ball allows to exchange photos between people (friends, family) for even more memories. But You can even send photos to yourself in your Memo Ball.

Describe the context user : Our project is part of the magic of Christmas. Wether in a big house or in a tiny apparement, this Christmas ball can make live big memories ! Everyone can use it.

Story Telling

  1. First Context

A young girl could not be at home for Christmas, so she decides to offer a gift to her mother in order to be there with her for Christmas. She explains it in a mail.

« Hi Mommy,

Sorry could not be at home for charismas… I have to stay in Boston for an important project. However don’t worry I’m thinking of you! check your mailbox, I order to you a little memo box. It’s a Christmas crystal ball connected. You will just have to light on this one… and a little surprise will appear! Despite I will not be with you physically, I will be thanks to this little ball. I put inside all my childhood memories with you.

  1. Second Context

Once upon a time, a little boy and his grand-ma living far away of each other. Unfortnatly for us, they only can see each other at Christmas, when the grand-mother come for. But, thank’s to the « boule à souvenirs », they still can be in touch and see each other !

  • Hi my litte boy ! I hope you’re fine, I’m missing you so much ! Can’t wait to see you at Christmas !
  • Hi Grand-Ma ! I’m fine, and I’m miss you to ! Look at your « boule à souvenirs », I’m just sharing you some love !
  • Ow what a cute photo is that ! You grow up so fast ! And your cat, he put on weight !
  • And he’s growing up too !

STEP 4

Prototype & Design of the Ball

Design : It’s a little ball in crystal, which is like a Christmas Ball to put in a Christmas Tree during Christmas Time.

This Ball can become an object of decoration for the interior thanks to its base. The base will be made in tinted glass to remind cold materials.

So You have the choice : You can put this ball as a Christmas Ball or You can just put It on its base to make It an object.

Technology aspect : The ball is composed of a chip at the bottom of it to show the photos in it.
In order to recharge it, its base is equivalent to a wireless charging station.

Prototype and Design of the application

Our ball needs an application to work. For this, we think of an application that would look like the application “Messenger” (Facebook) for photo sharing.

The icon : For the icon, we choose to put a Christmas Ball in the center in order to remind the concept.

 

This is the different part of the application to share photos between persons or yourself.
